About Christine
Hi! I’m Christine.

Here I am, surrounded by a gathering of powerful mentors and the special girls in their lives—when gathering was still allowed!
Turns out the powerful components of Natural Mentoring are a remarkable fusion of every bit of learning, teaching, and professional experience I’ve had throughout my adult life. My career began with elementary school teaching and evolved to creating and facilitating professional and career development programs for personnel in school districts. In graduate school I joined a team of educators that collaborated on updating an executive MBA program in a local university. I taught the introductory courses of that program for five years, and in my students’ positive responses to the truly introspective nature of these courses I caught the first glimmers of ideas around Natural Mentoring.
While working toward graduate degrees in adult education and workforce development, I began independently consulting with organizations, groups and individuals locally, nationally and internationally, helping them move forward in changing times. This has included working with teams creating workforce development systems in Mongolia, Barbados, Jamaica, Kenya and Nigeria.

“Today, more than ever, girls and young women require caring adults in their lives to thrive…
To do that, we must know ourselves deeply and support each other’s growth generously.”
—Christine G. Wagner, The Power of Natural Mentoring

Although the term Natural Mentoring was unknown to me in my childhood, in our home was a living, breathing example of a woman who personifies its caring meaning. She is my mother. While raising four children in the suburban Chicago area, Mom sustained the closest natural mentoring relationship imaginable with her sister’s daughter, Sandy. Although Sandy lived in Pennsylvania, their relationship has never faltered. They wrote letters and sent cards. They had conversations on the phone often. When our family took its annual summer trip to Pennsylvania to visit relatives, Mom and Sandy always spent quality time together. Now, sixty-plus years later, they are still in each other’s lives. Their inspiring story is just one of many shared by dozens of other women in my book. My hope is that these stories will inspire more mutually beneficial Natural Mentoring relationships.

This is Mom and my cousin at one of our recent Pennsylvania visits.
Here’s my 2013 TEDx talk about the inspiration for the book:

The final day of a workshop in Nigeria, where this team honored me by dressing me in their beautiful native attire. Not a typical workshop!
Christine is a consultant, speaker and author of the book, The Power of Natural Mentoring: Shaping the Future for Women and Girls. As the creator of POWER2THRIVE, she develops workshops and experiences to enrich the lives of women and girls in Natural Mentoring relationships. This pioneering work to encourage deeper connection and guidance for females of all ages comes after a flourishing career as an internationally experienced mentoring consultant, workforce development specialist, curriculum designer, and educator. Her fascination with the brain, especially the amazing new knowledge made possible through technology such as the fMRI, inspires her work. She is deeply committed to helping girls and young women find and use their unique voice in the world.
She lives in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico with her husband Steve, and frequently travels to spend time with family around the country.
